Elegant Vintage 1970's Cloisonne Butterfly Trinket Box/Snuff Box. Cloisonne is decorative work in which enamel, glass, or gemstones are separated by strips of flattened wire placed edge-ways on a metal backing. The beautiful work gives an understated and luxurious feel.
The butterfly is blue, white, red and deep orange on a black background, blue interior and bottom, with antiqued gold colored trim, and a whimsical designs. Sides are adorned with flowers and leaves.
A must have for any butterfly lover!

It's puzzling that someone did so much work in making this beautiful little box, and then left it unsigned. Having said that, I often forget to sign my drawings and paintings, too. I have one signed, tiny heart shaped box by Jay Strongwater. and an unsigned enamel and gold trinket box with crystal flowers and a bee.
The reason I posted so many photos is that these decorative boxes are so charming, and I was uncertain if I was capturing the beauty in photos, so I kept trying more. In addition to being pretty to look at, they are useful in keeping your things safe and organized, as you remove jewelry, watches, or whatever is in your pockets at the end of the day.
