A BIT ABOUT THE INTERESTING HISTORY:
The Fleur de Lis is an ancient symbol tracing back to Egypt. It has always been surrounded in mystery, and has always represented
- Power
- Enlightenment
- Good luck
It was either Louis X or Louis XI who was about to lose France in a battle. The army was starving, the other side stronger, better armed and they outnumbered the French. Louis put the already ancient symbol on his shield for power and luck. Against all odds, against all expectations, Louis won the battle and saved France. Attributing his unexpected success to the ancient good luck symbol, he declared the Fleur de Lis to be the symbol of France and French nobility.
Another piece of the mystery is the precise meaning of Fleur de Lis. Some say it means Flower of Louis. Others say it only means a lily flower.
There were even times when it was illegal for anyone other than French nobility to wear or display the fleur de lis. This might explain why the symbol, to this day, is associated with luxury, elegance and class. What does it say to you?
