Vintage Romanian Wooden Sewing Box: Hand Crafted, 3 Tier Layered, Accordion, Expandable Style, Dovetailed Corners. This would be great for jewelry, too!
Three hinged hard wood slats on each side create the accordion expandable effect to allow you to see all items stored for easy access.
Beautifully rich hard wood grain with gorgeous lines, color and quality construction. Solid, sturdy square mission style legs. Although I don't actually know, I was told that these are acorn top handles. One person guessed this is from the 1950's, her mom had one that was similar and her sister still uses it.
Similar boxes I've found online are not signed, and others are listed as "AS Strommen Bruk Hamar" but that is in Norway, and this one is stamped Romania on the bottom. They look identical in all details. Hm. One similar box I found on 1st Dibs is listed for $2,200.00!!!

Condition: Beautiful vintage condition with a beautiful warm, rich patina from being loves years of being used and loved. Sturdy, quality construction, opens and closes easily. There are some dings which I have shown in close up pictures. I had not even noticed them until I started photographing the box to post here. Note that the handle has been re-attached on one side and this screws look too new. One screw is missing on the other side.
Fabulous, functional highly collectible decorative display, hand made sewing cabinet. This would be great if you sew, but also for storing and organizing, or for displays of jewelry or other small objects.
