These two necklaces each feature a vintage center bead of peach and black with Asian writing. These came from a necklace which I took apart, and I am fairly certain that they belonged to my maternal grandmother. A friend in China who specializes in vintage art and jewelry helped me with understanding the bead and interpreting the symbols.
We think these are Peking glass or porcelain, from the late 19th or early 20th century. The symbol means "Double happiness" and refers to marriage. The bird represents longevity. Combined they represent a long life with a long and happy marriage.
The bead is surrounded two round pearls and by coral, on Chinese Freshwater Pearls with an extender chain. Faceted pyrite beads add just a touch of sparkle. The coral on one of the necklaces is nugget shaped, and the other is are tube sections. The coral beautifully picks up the orange color in the Asian bead.
Pantone announced coral as 2019 color of the year. Shop windows are filled with coral colored clothing, so of course I had to make coral jewelry for you to beautifully compliment the year's colors. The peach colors cheer up fall and winter clothing, and radiate in the spring and summer. The colors blend well with all shades of coral, peach, carrot, cantaloupe, etc, and also add pop to neutral outfits from black to all shades of blue, cream, brown, etc.
The colors are stunning, and they are truly beautiful shades of peach and coral.
The coral in this is very similar to the coral in Pantone's ad. I am having trouble capturing the actual color in pictures, and so am posting several versions. Apparently Pantone is better at photography!
Note also that these are one of a kind, so if you love them, get them now.
Let me know which works best for you, and exactly what length you like. And don't worry, if you change your mind later, I can happily make changes another time.
Both necklaces are approximately 16.5" with 2" extender chain.
