The Fleur de Lis dates back to ancient Egypt, and has always represented POWER, ENLIGHTENMENT and GOOD LUCK. There has also been much mystery around the symbol.
In my research, I've been unable to confirm if it was Louis X or Louis XI who was about to lost France in a battle, but it was about to be lost. The army was starving, the other side stronger, better armed and they outnumbered the French. Louis put the already ancient symbol on his shield for power and luck. Against all odds, against all expectations, Louis won the battle and saved France. He declared the Fleur de Lis to be the symbol of France.
As a side note, there were even times when it was illegal for anyone other than French nobility to use the fleur de lis. Hm- and they wondered why their people got annoyed with them!
Another piece of the mystery is the precise meaning of Fleur de Lis. Some say it means Flower of Louis. Others say it only means a lily flower.
Overflowing dots of diamonds run through my work. They represent, and give a feeling of abundance. Who doesn't need an abundance of power, enlightenment and good luck?
