The first piece of this collection was made in Maputo, Mozambique after a truckload of police men tried to steal my camera and threatened to arrest me if I didn't pay them a cash bribe (I did not). Wanting to wear something beautiful, which at the same time did not invite shakedowns, I mixed Tahitian pearls, suede cords and shark vertebrae. The vertebrae, carefully cleaned, bleached, and soaked in lemon, have beautiful organic shapes.
Currently becoming increasingly interested in non traditional materials, also included in this collection are beads made of boiled magazines, wood, carvings made from cow bone (never ivory), fabric chains, reclaimed and reworked materials, with more to come. Anything and everything if fair game if it can become beautiful jewelry for you - especially if it means extra great prices.
